Several of our instructors are offering up private lessons.  If you are interested in a private lesson, please reach out to them directly.

Halifax Nordic provides these names as a service to members.  You should be a club-member to participate in private lessons on club-groomed trails. The club is not responsible for any activities related to private lessons.  Payment arrangements are made directly with the coach.

Here is a list of instructors, their credentials and details about the lessons.

Name:  Steve Chipman

Level of Instruction:  Intermediate to advanced skate – my students should have the basics of free skate (weight transfer) and double pole. My teaching will start with learning one-skate and focus on body position, proper gliding and poling action. We will then move to two-skate, offset and diagonal skate while also covering step and skate turns, snowplow and downhill technique. Covering all these would require several lessons. If one lesson only, it would be one-skate which is the base of all skate techniques.

Experience: have taught xc skiing (both classic and skate) since 1976 (yes that’s right!) both in Toronto (High Park Ski Club) and NS (Martock and Halifax Nordic). Am a CANSI Level Two certified instructor.

Availability:  on request either at one of Halifax Nordic’s groomed local sites or at Kouchibouguac, Miramichi and Bathurst (where my wife and I now do most of our skiing)

Fee:$25 for individual lesson (1.5 hrs) or $15 per person for a group of 2-5 (1.5 hrs) Contact:
